The New York Jets picked up a potential depth piece for their offensive line.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that interior lineman Trystan Colon is in the process of signing with Gang Green after the restricted free agent was non-tendered by the Baltimore Ravens.

Colon, a former undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 2020, spent his first three professional seasons as a Raven. The 6-foot-3 center/guard made 20 regular season appearances over the past three years, including a six-game sample in 2022.

Colon, who has four career NFL starts under his belt, could help offset the loss of reserve lineman Dan Feeney in free agency. Feeney signed with the Miami Dolphins after playing all 17 regular season games (two starts) for the Jets this past season.

The Jets also lost free agent guard Nate Herbig to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 6-foot-4 Herbig made 11 starts for Gang Green in the absence of the injured Alijah Vera-Tucker last year.

Veteran center Connor McGovern has yet to sign with a team following three productive seasons with the Jets. The seventh-year pro has made 48 of a possible 50 starts since joining Gang Green in 2020.

Meanwhile, Colon has primarily played center since entering the league although his opportunities have been limited.

The Jets officially signed another player who possesses NFL game experience at center. Wes Schweitzer, who has been the Washington Commanders’ version of a Swiss Army knife, inked a contract that will pay him $5 million over two years according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

Schweitzer owns NFL game experience at all five offensive line positions with the bulk of his reps coming as a guard. In 2022, the 6-foot-4 veteran made seven appearances (6 starts) for the Commanders with the large majority of those snaps at center.
