Saints receive positive injury news regarding a rookie

The New Orleans Saints suffered an injury to a rookie in their 24-17 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 9.

Rookie edge rusher Isaiah Foskey was hurt on the opening kickoff. According to sources, Foskey suffered a low-grade quad strain, so he avoided major injury and a long time on the shelf.

Foskey has seen increased playing time since Payton Turner was injured, and his role on special teams has been important. On defense, he's been a rotational rusher with limited production.

In eight games, Foskey has eight tackles and one pass deflection.

The loss of him for a game or two will open the door for a potential practice squad call-up or low-level free agency addition. The Saints will just need to add a bit of depth to the roster - most likely.

Kyle Phillips, a consistent healthy scratch for much of the season, could see activation while Foskey misses time. He's the most likely candidate right now.
