When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Florida quarterback Kyle Trask in the second round, many believed the franchise wouldn't re-sign Blaine Gabbert.
However, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said Friday night that the team wants Gabbert to return to the locker room alongside Tom Brady, Ryan Griffin and now Trask.
"I really hope that we can get Blaine done, soon," Arians said, via JoeBucsFan.com. "Blaine has proven what he can do for us. So, yeah, hopefully we can get that done soon."
Gabbert appeared in four games for the Buccaneers last season, completing 56.3% of his passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
The former 10th overall pick has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.
Arians' interest in re-signing Gabbert doesn't come as a surprise. The Bucs plan to take things slowly with Trask, who could eventually be Brady's successor.
